In a subgroup of organ transplant recipients immunosuppressive drugs can be withdrawn without rejection. However, withdrawal of immunosuppression is not ventured routinely, since it cannot be predicted which patients will reject their graft. Developing a tolerance test, that quantifies specific T-cells in the circulation that cause rejection, is the solution.
