The dynamic nature of the circuitry in the cerebral cortex and in the cerebellum are in focus of research. In the cerebellum, only at later age, mutual interactions and modulatory influencing develop between the synaptic inputs onto the main cell type in the cerebellum, the Purkyne cell. Research focusses on molecular biological aspects of this interaction and its relation to the development of motor behaviour and skills
