| In the present study, it will be examined how the regulation of lexical access in visual word recognition of children in the course of primary school is reflected by the spreading of semantic activation in the mental lexicon along the lines of morphologically related words. Therefore a longitudinal cohort study will be conducted along with two cross-sectional experimental studies. In the longitudinal study, we will examine how the family size effect develops over the years from 8-12. The effect will be studied in monomorphemic words, suffixed words, and nominal compounds. The experimental studies further investigate the family size effect in homonyms, and the semantic nature of the effect. |
