Abstract

In a districtwide, randomised, prospective study, children of 6-60 months age with fever will be treated by well trained and supervised "Community Health Workers" as for malaria or for malaria with a respiratory tract infection. End point of the study is reduction of mortality. Sociological-antropological and economic research are important parts of this study.

Abstract (NL)

Kinderen, van 6 tot 60 maanden oud, met koorts zullen door getrainde "Community Health Workers" behandeld worden met antimalariamiddelen dan wel antimalariamiddelen in combinatie met een antibioticum. Het doel is sterfte terug te dringen. Het betreft een districtwijd , prospectief, gerandomiseerd onderzoek waarin ook sociologisch-antropologisch en economisch onderzoek een belangrijke rol spelen.
