| The research program of the Department of Biomedical Analysis is centered around the efficient, ultra-sensitive analysis and structural and functional characterization of drugs (and their metabolites), their targets, and the interactions between them. Special attention is given to the analysis of bioactive peptides and proteins. The group puts strong emphasis on biomolecular mass spectrometry, especially in relation to structural biology and functional genomics, including pharmaceutical proteomics. The research is applied in modalities ranging from molecular models to in vivo clinical trials. The applications cover many areas from drug-screening, preclinical and clinical pharmacology, and the biotransformation of cytotoxic drugs to the bioanalysis of drugs and their potential targets in complex biological matrices (plasma, serum, tissue). |
