Imagining Genomics: Introducing visuality in the genomics debate
03 / 2007 - 12 / 2010
Artists have increasingly been turning to biological science. Ethics turns to the imagination, but so far that has mainly been narrative imagination. In this project we not only investigate but also actively engage with visual bio-art and its images, wondering what difference they (can) make to moral debate. One important lead is that images, more easily and directly than words, enable the expression of ambiguity. The central question is: How can artistic imagery contribute to the quality of public moral debate on genomics?
