Abstract

The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum evades the host immune system by switching var gene expression. Chromatin modifications are crucial in var repression. Therefore, investigating (de) regulation of these modifications might elucidate mechanisms for ubiquitous var expression, thereby preventing parasite immune evasion
