| This Programme has as its primary aim the investigation of the increasing and changing nature of the role that law plays in relation to situations of armed conflict and a wide variety of peace operations, including post-conflict transitional situations. The primary focus will be upon the role of public international law, as befits a research centre for international law such as ACIL; but attention will also be devoted to the relationship of international law to other branches of law such as military operational law, as well as to disciplines other than law, including international relations, philosophy and ethics, and conflict studies, where this is relevant for assisting in attaining the goals of the various projects which together make up the overall Programme. |
