Abstract

The human beta-globin locus consists of five beta-globin genes, arranged in the order of their expression during development. Upstream of the genes is the Locus Control Region (LCR), required for optimal expression of all beta-globin genes. We are interested in the DNA elements and cognate proteins involved in beta-globin gene regulation and the dynamics of this process.
