Abstract

The Mobile Medical Team (MMT) of the VU University Medical Center is active in cases of severe traumatic injury, polytraumata and severe illness. The MMT is mostly transported by the helicopter or a specialized and equiped ambulance. Both transportation units allow close monitoring of vital functions, including respiration and ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring and stabilization of neurotrauma of the patients. The ALARM Traumatic Brain Injury project aims to investigate whether the intervention of the MMS is related to an improved outcome in traumatic brain injured patients as compared to standard ambulatory care.
