| Identity politics in the socioeconomic arena focusses on postcolonial migrants organizations, domestic social mobility and transnational orientations. The project includes a survey of the numbers, membership and leadership of organisations and networks, journals and websites, against a backdrop of demographic figures and statistics about first-, second- and third-generation immigrants. The focus will be on shifts in class, education, and emancipation trajectories and how these relate to changing organisational patterns. These findings will be related to intergenerational and other shifts in the intensity of contacts with the country of origin (ongoing migration, holiday visits, involvement or support to local community projects, remittances, etc.). |
