| Identity politics in the cultural arena focusses on the constitution and politicisation of colonial and postcolonial cultural heritage and the role of its more popular aspects in these processes. Based on ethnographic methods, it explores gender, class, and race relations of various categories of postcolonial immigrants vis-à-vis their role in the constitution of cultural heritage. The sites of research and enquiry are ethnic festivals and sites of everyday life. |
