| My project focuses on argumentation schemes, rules of evaluation and argumentation patterns used in literary criticism. In the first phase of the project a method for the analysis of critical discourse will be developed and tested in a pilot analysis. In the second phase of the project this method of analysis will be further specified on the basis of several (already documented) controversies in literary criticism. Using this specified method, a sample of rediscovered controversies, evenly spread out in time between 1945 and 2005, will be analysed. Argumentation patterns and possible shifts of the conventions in the field can be detected in this second phase of the project. |
