Samenvatting (EN)

People are daily faced with new words (neologisms) without noticing. Most of the time, we don't have any trouble to 'form' a meaning of these neologisms. But the question is: how does our memory deal with these words? The first time we see such a neologism we have to form a meaning of this neologism. But what happens the second time we see it? Do we have to form the meaning again or will there be a trace in the lexical memory, formed during the first time we saw the neologism? The central question in my project is how such neologisms are processed, and whether a single exposure to such a neologism already leaves a trace in the lexical memory. A further question if such a trace exists, for how long will there be a trace in the lexical memory?
