| The classical theory of multiphase flow is rather ad hoc and empirical. A recent theory indicates that interfacial areas between the phases plays a prominent role. As it is extremely difficult to validate this theory experimentally, we rely on so-called pore scale networkmodelling, which allows to incorporate the underlying physiscal processes at the pore scale. These network models are on teh one hand rather simpel, but on the otherhand computatinally intensive. The model(s) have been developed on stand alone computers and recently adapted to run on parallel computers/clusters. |
