Abstract

The following research question is the core of this research: How have different traditions of national identity, citizenship, and church-state relations affected European immigration countries? incorporation of Islam, and what are the consequences of these approaches for patterns of cultural distance and interaction between Muslim immigrants and their descendants, and the receiving society? Six European countries will be studied, the Netherlands, Germany, France, the UK, Switserland and Belgium.

Abstract (NL)

De hoofdvraag van dit onderzoek luidt: hoe hebben de verschillende tradities van nationale identiteit, burgerschap en relaties tussen kerk en staat invloed gehad op de incorporatie van de Islam in Europese immigratielanden en wat zijn de consequenties van deze invalshoek voor patronen interactie en culturele afstand tussen Moslims en autochtonen in de volgende zes landen: Nederland, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Verenigd Koninkrijk, Zwitserland en België.
