| Obesity is becoming an extensive problem all around the world. For preventing obesity it is important to unravel the risk factors for developing obesity. It is impossible to treat the whole population, because it is too costly and will take too much time. If the risk factors are known, the children at risk can get an intervention program to prevent obesity. The GECKO Drenthe will be a population based observational birth-cohort study, which includes all children born from April 2006 to April 2007, who are living at birth in Drenthe, one of the northern province of The Netherlands. With questionnaires, extensive measurements and blood samples we are going to face this problem and we are going to look for these risk factors. |
