Abstract

Industrial designers and product designers use several creative techniques to collaborate and cooperate with each others. Their communication goes well beyond spoken languages. Within the AMIDA project, I am focusing on designing technologies for supporting collaboration (meetings) from a distance focusing on non-verbal cues. Amongst the main challenges of this research is to understand how designers collaborate and coordinate their work, through what types of medium the information is communicated and how to represent these details to the remote participant. I am aiming to design and develop an awareness display that can mediate different non-verbal activities to the remotely located participants.
