| This project aims to create a European research network comprising leading Dutch, German and Spanish research institutes in the field of Islam in Europe. The project participants seek primarily to establish a research network under the European Seventh Framework Program (FP7) in order to elaborate a broader future research program that investigates possible ways of reconceptualizing ?secularism? in relation to ?Islam? in Europe, and of ?Islam? in relation to ?secularism?. By historicizing both the concept of religion and that of secularism we intend to provide a framework for renewing the study of Europe and Islam. |
