One of the main tasks of managers is to motivate employees. The economics literature offers alternative ways of how managers can motivate employees by linking performance and rewards. This research proposal focuses on how managers can motivate through ordinary talk. The objective of this research proposal is twofold. The first objective is to develop game-theoretical models which predictions are consistent with the stylized facts on feedback. The second objective is to gain better insight into the factors that facilitate communication between the sender and the receiver of feedback.
