| The main topic of this project is the role of implicit and explicit learning in the acquisition of spelling knowledge. Implicit learning refers to situations in which a person learns about the structure of stimuli without the intention to do so, whereas explicit learning is conscious learning and goal-determined. Five experiments will be performed to test the difference between tasks that induce explicit and tasks that induce implicit learning in students from Grades 1, 3 and 5. The sixth task aims at assessing the development of implicit-orthographic knowledge of students from Grades 1 to 6. |
