Description: We develop an interactive spatial planning instrument that can be used to evaluate for a specific landscape a set of (spatial) services provided by this landscape, and to design a landscape in such a way as to benefit the most from these services.
Research objectives: In 2009 we developed the numerical kernel of the approach in Python. Now, from ArcGIS or other software, the expected intensity of biocontrol can easily be projected on the map. The first step towards streamlining and broadening the applicability of the method for deriving bio-control maps developed in BO project 07-010 has been taken.
In 2010 we continue with the integration of the method in a landscape design tool: an interactive system for the evaluation of ecological networks.
Results and products: Main product is a software module for the evaluation of biocontrol services provided by the landscape, to be incorporated in an existing designtool for ecological networks. |
