Abstract

This PhD project aims to study the effect of rumen-degradable protein balance and forage type on bulk milk urea concentration and emission of ammonia from dairy cow houses. Moreover, milk urea concentration is assessed as indicator for ammonia emission from dairy cow houses in a situation with rationed grazing. Finally, an update of the protein evaluation system for ruminants (DVE/OEB) is described and validated.
