Abstract

Mastitis is considered worldwide to be the costliest production disease in dairy herds. To realize a reduction of the incidence of mastitis, the farmers are the most important actors. If we take a look at these farmer, two main aspects are involved, first the financial impulse to work on a reduction of mastitis and secondly a good insight in the costs and efficiency of different management measures.
It is necessary to develop a farm specific calculation of the costs of mastitis and different management measures so every farmer can make a well-funded, specific decision.
