Description: So far, no digestibility studies of organic produced raw materials for broilers have been conducted. Feed producers are assuming that digestibility of these raw materials are comparable with the conventional produced variants. However, digestibility of organic produced raw materials may differ from conventional produced ones as proven in laying hens, due to differences in plant breeds, fertilisation regimes and cultivation. Furthermore, certain raw materials are incorporated in organic diets that are not used in conventional diets. Digestibility of these raw materials is unknown. In this study the chemical composition and the faecal digestibility will be tested of the following feedstuffs: wheat, maize, peas, soybean meal, rape seed meal, sunflower seed meal, and sesam seed meal.
Research objectives: Short term: To determine Metabolisable Energy content and faecal digestibility of organic produced feedstuffs for broilers. Long term: The use of accurate feeding values of organic feedstuffs for optimising organic broiler diets.
Results and products: The result of this research will be a report and an article. |
