Abstract

In general, Outsourcing of Business Processes and IT processes make companies more agile and responsive next to a reduction of the total costs of ownership. Creating sustainable value is a major challenge for any organization, both from a client and a supplier perspective. Even more challenging is the process of adding value during the Outsourcing contract duration for long-term success. Furthermore, as clients and suppliers focus on more performance based objectives from outsourcing, it is a challenge to measure success against these joint objectives. End users expect measurement against agreed service levels, but Board members expect increased shareholder value. And organizations find it difficult to capture the performance based Outsourcing objectives in the contractual obligations. In short, the real impact of Outsourcing on the performance of a company is an important issue. Foundations for success deserve to be investigated thoroughly. This thesis will focus on Business Value Creation of (Transformational) Outsourcing, a Performance Based Approach. The research will focus firstly on organizations which outsourced Business Processes and IT processes (representing the segments: finance, manufacturing, telecommunications, government, retail and distribution). Furthermore, the research will focus on the comprehensive mix of strategic, operational, and financial (shareholder) value and the legal translation in contracts.
