| Objective. To develop and design a multilevel program to improve the application of guidelines by physical and manual therapists as a means to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of care. Background. The ongoing GIPhT study (Guideline Implementation in Physiotherapy) showed that a program to improve the application of guidelines should be aimed at various levels: the therapist, the therapist's direct working environment, and the broader organizational surroundings. Methods. The multilevel program will be developed within the GIPhT study by means of Intervention Mapping (IM) and is expected to result in a coherent intervention mix. A pilot version of this program will be implemented and evaluated on its feasibility and potential effectiveness. Expected results. This development and design trajectory is expected to result in one of the first multilevel programs to increase guideline adherence amongst physical and manual therapists. |
