Samenvatting (EN)

Boar taint is an off odour affecting pork of entire pigs due to the production of some hormones by the testis and causing the sensitive consumers to reject boar meat. until now the routinely castration of piglets has made boar taint unrelevant. however, in 2015 a european regulation will forbid castration and boar taint will be likely to cause economic losses to pig industry. the aim of this project is to design a breeding plan to remove boar taint by means of genetic selection.
