| The objective of Innovative Programme 1 'The learning child' is to facilitate the development and evaluation of new educational forms which do justice to the individual capacities of primary school children. The most recent insights in the field of brain-and-cognition research will be used. Experimental educational research will be applied to the domains of reading and math. In addition, large scale, cross-sectional neuropsychological research will be carried out, with attention to conditions for learning. Brain imaging and evidence-based educational interventions will be applied within in-depth studies. In addition to scientific end products, the project will deliver evidence-based interventions which can be directly applied to educational settings. The objective of these interventions is to strengthen skills and improve motivation of both children and teachers. |
