| The research focusses on Egypt's Arab capital Fustat and its hinterland. The main foci are Fustat's relationship with Alexandria and its position vis-à-vis the southern Egyptian countryside, from the Arab conquest up until the Tulunid period. In his research, he combines both medieval literature and documentary (including archaeological) sources. |
