Description:
It is nowadays forbidden to apply manure in autmn/winter time on clay soils in arable farming; it is only allowed to apply manure in spring/summer time. Problems are encountered when applying manure on arable land on clay soils (appropiate machinery, soil structure, incorporation of the manure to reduce ammonia emissions). Furthermore on sandy soils more precise manure application is needed for efficient manure utilisation in case of the future limits on maximum manure application rates.
Research objectives:
To stimulate, facilitate and research methods to apply manure on clay soils for arable cropping in spring time; and to apply manure close to crop rows before sowing.
Results and products:
Report on potential methods and effects on soil structure and yield for manure application on clay soils in spring time and principles of precision row application before sowing. |
