Description: Policymakers feel the need the develop an instrument to quantify the environmental and econimical effects of farm measures and strategies. For that purpose recently the farm model MEBOT has been developed for arable, vegetable and flowe bulbs farms. This project aims to make it suitable for tree nursery and fruit crops.
With the farm model MEBOT economical and environmental effects of crop and farm management strategies can be evaluated on a farm level. Important economical parameters are gross margin and labor. With refer to environmental aspects the model provides nutrient surpluses, nitrate concentrations in the upper groundwater and environmental parameters concerning the use of pesticides (MBP, BRI, MIP).
Research objectives: The project aims to extend the farm model MEBOT with tree nursery and fruit crops.
Results and products: Results The result of the project will be that the farm model MEBOT is extended with tree nursery and fruit crops. The extended model makes it possible to a evaluate different crop and farm strategies (fertilization, crop protection) also for tree nursery and fruit farms.
