Description: The development of new horticultural production systems that separate production system and soil ( soilless ) promises to be a way of reducing emissions of nutrients and pesticides to land and water. The development of such new production systems involves a lot of questions by different stakeholders. It is difficult to design and implement radical new systems without involving these stakeholders and without knowing the influences and limiting conditions of legislation, environmental planning, biodiversity, markets, consumer interests and so on. This project focuses on these influences. A stakeholder analysis is a tool to explore who might need to be involved in the development and implementation and to identify their interests, power and influence.
Results and products: The results of the project are a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT)-analysis of new soil-independent or soilless horticultural production systems for crops that are traditionally grown in soil and a stakeholder analysis, including a strategy for building participation and commitment. Results will be communicated to the designers of the new systems. |
