Description:
Outdoor areas in pens for organic pigs in the Netherlands are often rectangular bare areas. For animal welfare reasons and visibility by visitors it would be beneficial if attractive material for the pigs could be offered.
Research objectives:
The objective of this project is to improve animal welfare and public image by offering animals environmental enrichment in the outdoor area.
Results and products:
The project will result in practical advises for the implementation of enrichment: f.i. rooting, rubbing, and wallowing. |
