Description:
Organic dairy goat production is with 60 of the total 500 goat farms an important sector in the organic movement of the Netherlands. There is still a big gap between cost price and selling price of organic goat milk. Questions of the sector are mostly related to cost price optimalisation via nutrition and animal health, welfare and product quality.
Research objectives:
The long term objective of the project is to strengthen the sector as a whole with a special focus on cost of production, nutrition, animal health, animal welfare and product quality. Specific objectives for 2010 are:
