| Parietal and frontal cortex are jointly involved in selection and preparation of pointing and reaching movements. According to a recent hypothesis, selection and preparation form an integrated process driven by competition between multiple action-alternatives. This competition is played out across parietofrontal cortex in a task-dependent manner. We test this hypothesis with analyses of oscillatory brain activity in various movement tasks, recorded with magnetoencephalography. The investigation aims to provide new insights into (i) ?selection through competition? in parietofrontal cortex, (ii) the interaction between parietal and frontal cortex during movement selection, and (iii) the role of oscillatory brain activity in these processes. |
