Abstract

I will study the acquisition of Turkish Sign Language by Turkish deaf children. I am especially interested in the domain of spatial expressions and its development. Additionally, I want to compare the acquisition of spoken language by hearing children to the acquisition of sign language by deaf children and would like to get insights about the effect of cross-modality on the expression of spatial relations in language. The participants will be deaf children of deaf parents and hearing children aged between 3-12 years and the research context is Turkey.
